Important to Know - Reason, Season or Lifetime

(My closest and most special LIFETIME relationship)

I recieved part of this recently, and I thought this was worth posting - it's a critical thing to understand - if we aren't aware or misunderstand these in our lives, it can really be painful, difficult, or even lead to catastrophic results. If we are not aware, we may give priority and place to the "wrong" relationships, and ignore, damage and even lose the most important relationships of our lives.

People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need. You or they have come to assist through a difficulty, to provide encouragement, guidance and support, to aid physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend - and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that the need has been met, the desire fulfilled, the work is done, and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done before. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season, and once the season is over, it is time to move on again.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. You grow together for a lifetime, and share deeply. This type of relationship is lifelong and lasting, and if we value it, can be a great treasure.

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were/are a reason, a season or a lifetime relationship.

Jeff

Darla -

I understand completely. This was revolutionary for me to learn that there isn't anything wrong just because a relationship isn't a lifetime one...

Thanks for the kind words. We feel the same - and who knows, maybe one day we will live closer or at least visit. We used to come down to that area of Florida pretty often before all of this...

Something really cool happened this weekend. While mom was here, she noticed the blanket you gave Kim, and asked about it, so Kim shared with her about you and Michael and how we felt God had connected us.

Right now, our needs are pretty much taken care of for the time being. Kim had a rough week with alot of seizures (2 a day from last wednesday until yesterday), but after talking to the doctor and upping the meds, they are now under control, although she is pretty sleepy when the dose is high.

Thanks for caring about us and encouraging us. Drop a line anytime. You guys are very special to us, and I hope you still have our e-mail address. If not, let me know.

I still talk to Gas and Yeri occasionally, too. What a cool thing that God would have set things up in such a way that we could get the chance to talk to each other. You guys and they are very special people to us, and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Jeff,
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for leaving a comment. It's been a long time since I have seen you around. I don't think it was a co-incidence that you stopped by today, because after you did, I went back to your blog to leave a comment and found your wonderful post from January 3. One that I very much needed to hear. It is helping me put a very stressful situation in perspective. Thank you.
I'm gonna post this here, and try to forward it to you through Darla, and hope that you get it. I just wanted you to know that I appreciate the post, as well as the comment on my blog. And that my prayers continue for you and Kim.

Jeff,

I've been blog browsing and ran across a comment you made on Queen of the Mayhem.

It was really touching. I came to your website to see what you're all about.

I do hope that you can get back to your blog. I feel you have a lot to share to many empty hearts out in cyberspace.

In reading just a few short comments, you've already been an inspiration to me.

God Bless...

Thanks for coming by. I appreciate the encouragement. Lately, I have had to really pull back just to take care of my family and myself. It's a hard thing to do, but they have to come first in my life, and things are pretty hard, as they have been for a while.

I will try to post some new stuff soon, just to communicate some of what is in my heart and what is important to me, and what is going on in our lives. It's just hard to keep up with the responses and posts all the time, and I don't like doing it half-way...

Anyway, nice to virtually meet you, and thanks, again, for the encouragement.

The Lord bless you and keep you...

Terri -

Thanks so much for coming by. Kim and I have been through so much over the past few years - I could write books on it. We have suffered so much, learned so much, grown so much and appreciated so much - it's just too much for words.

We are tremendously blessed to have a small network of the most incredible and intimate friends close by our sides during this time. For 4 1/2 years now, they have lifted us up in prayer, made themselves available to us and for us, have loved us unconditionally, and have NEVER ONCE tried to FIX us, BLAME us, or JUDGE us. What an amazing blessing.

More to come - again, I just gotta make sure I take care of the family stuff, so blogging comes a little downline from there, priority wise right now...

The Lord bless you - and I will continue to pray for Matthew. Thanks for the link to his website, and I had already been there and read up on him.

More later - 2:20am here again, and I gotta sleep soon!
