It ain't what you don't know....

“It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.” Mark Twain

Words to live by. Ain't it the truth? We often thinks we knows so much, and soon find out what we know is just - well - WRONG.

The longer I live, the more I realize just how much I don't know. In the last 10 years, so many of the things I was so sure of have changed. I am still sure of a few things:

- Daddy God loves me, and even better - He LIKES me...
- I am defined by who He says I am, not by roles I fulfill...
- Relationship is better than being RIGHT, or following RULES...
- People are more important than THINGS...

Other than that, pretty much everything else is up for grabs...

Those are some of the best things to keep knowing, right? Who cares about all the other stuff.

I guess what I have learned in the past 10 years is that forgiveness is an ongoing process and a continuing decision, not just a one-time act.

krystyn - yep, I am much happier not knowing so much... I'd rather know a few things and live them than to have a head full of knowledge and it not be applied... which was the case for years.

kim - very insightful - similarly, I view forgiveness as a decision to accept and move through the pain and damage caused by another - and that's definitely an ongoing process and a decision that has to be upheld daily, even hourly. One thing that makes is easier for me, though, is knowing all that I have been forgiven for... Daddy God never, ever withholds forgiveness from me, and that is more than enough to move me into the loving & forgiving side of life...

Namaste, y'all!

Life is truly a learning experience. What I seem to keep learning...the more I learn the less I know....

Goteeman~ Just found your blog on crazymama's blog.
Loved your comment on it! You are a rock star!
My husband is a great person who I love dearly. He is a whiner when sick, however I believe whenthe going gets rough he would step up to the plate and take the challenge on.
I admire you for taking care of your family.
Marriage is a partnership and your wife is blessed to have a man who honors this!

I keep reminding myself of that...the whole people are more important thing...when I catch myself falling into the "keeping up with the joneses" nonsense!

There is just SO much I don't know! :) And even more that I think I do!!!!!!

You've got a point...so much has changed that it makes it hard to really believe much of anything.

One thing I've learned is will always be idiots (I may be the one, but it's doubtful that I will be alone!)

Thanks for stopping by today!

And not to be the angel of doom, but why fight what we are...I've learned that we live for the NOW because if we always life for the FUTURE is never promised and we don't want to know we let it slip by.

WOW, I just realized that I totally typed something that made no sense.

What I MEANT was:
Live for the now because the future is never promised to us and we don't want to know that we let it slip by us.

Jeeeez, I could really use a nap!
